In an effort to increase the quality of our hosting accounts, we have been planning a move to a new, faster server. Today we started migrating accounts to our new server at 0000 hrs. While this process was taking place all domains under our control were pointing to the old server, allowing sites to effectively experience zero downtime during the migration.

We completed the migration process and checked the files to ensure full integrity. As soon as our migration passed our tests, we changed the domain DNS for all domains under our control to point to the new location.

Please remember, if you bought  your own domain you will need to change its DNS addresses to ns1.isnigh.com and ns2.isnigh.com

We will continue to keep accounts on our old server for 7 days. On 10th Feb 2010 the old server will be disconnected and all data removed. You should logon to your account and make sure that everything is present and working.

You should make sure that you always use your primary domain when connecting to your cPanel or ftp.
To connect to your account on our old server you should use your old login details and connect using the IP mentioned in the welcome e-mail we sent to you when you first joined.

All migrated cPanels have been assigned a new password. Please check your e-mail for your new password.

We have found with some free wordpress plugins, they have started to generate errors when added and activated within wordpress. The error will show when the plugin is activated and will state “Plugin Does Not Have a Valid Header”.

The reason is very simple. While most plugin developers zip their plugin folder with any extra txt files required, but some other developers are putting the plugin folder within another folder. This second practice causes a problem as the plugin should consist of a folder with files and other folders inside, creating a second incorrectly named layer causes wordpress to look for the wrong files and thus assume that the header is missing or invalid.

You should download the plugin to your pc, extract it and check to see if it does have one folder directly inside the other. Login via ftp and delete the folder that was created when you added the plugin within your blog. Finally, upload the correct folder from your pc, login to your blog and click on activate next to the plugin you uploaded.

An example of this is “TubePress.NET 3.0.1″. This plugin has been placed inside a folder which cause the header error when it is activated. By downloading it and only uploading the correct folder it stopped the error from being displayed because the folder that the plugin was in had the correct name. Plugin folders will normally contain a file with an identical name to the folder. When this folder is placed within another folder, it loses the ability to work and be recognised by wordpress.

We have received reports from a few users that their hosting accounts were defaulting to PST timezone and not UTC. This can cause problems with software that assumes the server is using UTC and will result in incorrect times being used.

This problem has now been rectified and all users should be seeing the standard UTC times when they login to their servers.

Three of which are from the Philippines, two of these are located in manila where they have had the worst flooding in a decade with an unbelievable 1 month of rain in just 6 hours. We have contacted one of our staff in manila, but the second has been on the roof of her house for 2 days before her cell phone cut out. Presently, we have no idea where she is and assume that she is still on the roof of her house. In the area that she lives there is a high probability of a massive landslide with such a high level of rain in just 6 hours.

Server Changes & Upgrades
In our ongoing effort to improve how we manage both products and customers, we have opted for a new licensing and customer management system. Our new system has vastly improved our responce time to support requests. Plus, as you write your support ticket, our new system will suggest support articles that may provide you with the information you require. Our old licensing system was showing repeated errors to a small number of customers. We have isolated the problem and have been thoroughly testing our new system to ensure that it will solve this issue as well as providing a much better all over service. Licenses can be released manually when you need to move your product to a new location. All in all, our new system should vastly reduce the posibility of seeing errors and make managing your product and requesting support much earier.

As soon as we move customers to our new licensing system, we will e-mail all affected users to provide instructions of what you should do. This should involve uploading a new version of our plugin and entering your new licensing key. When the change takes place, we will give customers 1 months notice before we terminate our old licensing system. We will be providing full support to any customers who experience any problems using our new system.

An Air France plane carrying 228 people from Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro to France has gone missing over the Atlantic.
Air France said the plane sent an automatic message at 0214 GMT reporting a short circuit after turbulence, and may have been struck by lightning.
Brazil’s air force said a search and rescue mission was under way near the island of Fernando de Noronha.
It added that the plane was well across the Atlantic when it disappeared, and the search had to cover a wide area.
France has also sent out several reconnaissance aircraft.
French minister Jean-Louis Borloo said the plane had probably had an accident and ruled out hijacking.
An airport official told AFP the Airbus 330-200 had been expected to arrive in Paris at 1110 local time (0910 GMT).

Crisis centre
Mr Borloo, the minister in charge of transport, said the plane would already have run out of fuel.
“By now it would be beyond its kerosene reserves so unfortunately we must now envisage the most tragic scenario,” he said, quoted by Reuters news agency.
“Nothing on Spanish radar, nothing on Moroccan radar, nothing on French radar – we seriously have to fear the worst.”
Flight AF 447 left Rio at 1900 local time (2200 GMT) on Sunday. It had 216 passengers and 12 crew on board, including three pilots. The passengers included one infant, seven children, 82 women and 126 men.
An Air France spokeswoman said there had been no radio contact with the plane “for a while”.
It is reported to have disappeared 300km (186 miles) north-east of the Brazilian city of Natal.
Brazilian air force spokesman Col Henry Munhoz told Brazilian TV it had not been picked up by radar on the Cape Verde Islands on its way across the Atlantic.
“Air force planes left Fernando de Noronha and are flying towards Europe to start the search for the missing plane,” he said.
Airport authorities have set up a crisis centre at Charles de Gaulle.
An Air France official told AFP that people awaiting the flight would be received in a special area at the airport’s second terminal.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy has been informed of the incident and has expressed his deep concern, his office said.
He has demanded that the relevant authorities do everything they can to find the plane and “shed light on the circumstances surrounding its disappearance as rapidly as possible”.
This is the first major incident in Brazilian air space since a Tam flight crashed in Sao Paulo in July 2007 killing 199 people.
Air France has opened a telephone hotline for friends and relatives of people on the plane – 00 33 157021055 for callers outside France and 0800 800812 for inside France.
