wp-Member and Authorize.net

We are pleased to announce that we have just finished testing our latest addition to wp-member. wp-Member, our WordPress Membership Plugin will now accept payments via Authorize.net. You will now be able to offer your members the choice of Paypal or Authorize.net.

Authorize.net is available with wp-Member v3.0 and higher. Both Paypal and Authorize.net can be activated and deactivated to suit your needs. You may want to offer Paypal only, Authorize.net only, both together or non at all if you are only providing free accounts.

As we continue to develop wp-Member further, we will release more and more gateway modules for wp-Member.

wp-Member 3.0 Released

We are pleased to announce the release of wp-Member v3.0. The latest version includes many changes that were released as RC versions plus a few others, all of which are listed below.

Changelog

  • Authorize.net Gateway Module Added – you can now accept payments from your customers using Paypal and Authorize.net. Due to php changes, Authorize.net will only be available to php 5 users. If you do not have php 5, please read this post.
  • Registration CSS and Image Control – We have changed how you can control the text colour of the login and registration page as well as being able to upload as many registration images as you want, swapping between them easily and quickly. This new feature has been added to the bottom of the Registration Customization page within wp-member.
  • Paypal Sandbox – Some users reported issues with our RC1 release refusing to go into live mode. We have now corrected this issue.
  • Upgrade/Downgrade – The upgrade/downgrade feature has been altered to fall in line with the new shortened registration procedure.

WordPress announce end of php4 and mysql4 support

WordPress have announced that once wordpress v3.2 is released, they will no longer support php 4 or mysql 4. This announcement has been expected for some time. The last time that a php 4 update was relased was in August 2008 and mysql 4 received a final relase a few months later in December 2008.

WordPress have announced that once wordpress v3.2 is released, they will no longer support php 4 or mysql 4. This announcement has been expected for some time. The last time that a php 4 update was relased was in August 2008 and mysql 4 received a final relase a few months later in December 2008.

If your host is still using php 4 or mysql 4, you should contact them and insist that they upgrade to php 5 and mysql 5. php 4 and mysql 4 have not been updated in the last 19 months!

As wordpress will no longer be supporting php 4 or mysql 4, we will also not be supporting php 4 and mysql 4. This is not just for the same reasons as wordpress, but also because we believe they will specifically be using php 5 which will cause wordpress to no longer work on servers running php 4.

We have released a new version of our WordPress Membership Plugin wp-Member. This latest version includes many minor and major bugfixes. It has been extensively tested with wordpress 3.0. If you experience any issues, please contact our support team by clicking on the support link at the top of every page of our website.

Changelog

  • CSS – All css has been moved from various files and added to css files within the css folder. This will provide much better control for users who wish to customize the css manually.
  • Trial Users – Some trial registrations were not adding the correct subscription length to members accounts. This has now been corrected.
  • Registration Page – Overlay image was incorrectly displaying border. This has now been corrected.
  • Upgrade/Downgrade – This option was failing to correctly add members subscription details to their accounts. This has now been corrected.
  • Paypal Payments – Previously, when a new member registers for a paid account, they were presented with 2-3 screens. We have completely shortened this process right down to just a single page. When a new member registers on your registration page, they will be sent to paypal as soon as they click on the “register” button. By reducing the number of clicks a new member has to make, we are making it much easier for people to use as well as increasing the probability of new members completing registration and making their payment.
